The old field is behind my parents' house in Summit Township, Jackson, Michigan. The image was constructed to depict a bright day in June. The cat and I would follow some of the same paths back there for years in all seasons. It became a habit and a ritual. In the midst of winter I would be following the same pathways through the snow and cold and dream of a bright sunny day such as is portrayed here. The sun so bright it is blinding. These trees became familiar friends. The views became so iconic to me, that now that they are gone, I remember then with regret. These are special places for me. I never saw anyone else back there appreciating these simple fields.
